The International Sighisoara Blues Festival was born in the spring of 2005. It is held every year on the least weekend of February, throughout 3 consecutive days, with 2 concerts every evening. The concerts take place in the Mihai Eminescu hall of Sighisoara, with a capacity of 500 seats and high quality acoustics. The event is organized by the cultural association SIGHISOARA BLUES HOSPITAL.

Sighisoara Blues Festival is the only prestigious event of its kind in the whole country. Its aim - to promote blues, a musical genre which, although poorly represented on the national stage, is addressing an ever increasing audience.

The folks who run the Sighisoara Blues Festival are a dedicated hard working bunch. With artists flying in and out of three or four widely scattered airports at all different times of the day and night, they staff never missed a beat. No one lacked for anything.
The audience each of the three days was attentive and involved. The artists felt welcomed by the fans and in most cases, when time permitted, both artist and audience spend time together whether it be at the after jam at the hotel or even spending an afternoon driving with new friends to the countryside.
The festival was a welcome respite to the often seemingly endless winter tours of clubs. Playing in a wonderful medieval city, spending extra days there absorbing the essence of the city; and performing to a sold out crowd was a welcome event for all involved.
The sound and technical staff was fine. The stage lighting was rough on the opening night but was fixed for subsequent shows. Sound was fine especially considering the wide variety of styles and levels coming from the stage gear (all of which was perfect).
Hopefully the word of this wonderful festival, which seems to grow each year, will get out to audiences outside of Romania and make this cozy festival known to more folks; but until then, it is the best keep secret event in Europe!
